Protect The Vanguard

In this unjust social and political climate, we know it will take a collective effort to ensure the protection and freedom of those who stand up against mass incarceration, police brutality, and racial injustice. South Carolina Freedom Fund (SCFF) has launched a revolving community bail fund that assists with paying bail for Black people on the frontlines. We truly admire and respect the courage, strength, and tenacity of all freedom fighters.

Help us reach our goal of $100,000 so that we can continue to protect those who are impacted.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

#JUSTICEFORGEORGEFLOYD
#JUSTICEFORBREONNATAYLOR
#JUSTICEFORAHMAUDARBERY

Over the past 48 hours, we have witnessed our communities unite around the globe to demand justice for the late George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and every victim of intentional police brutality and racism. Silence and fear of prosecution has historically crippled communities along the nation’s Bible Belt. In these unprecedented times, demonstrations have been a way for the voiceless to reclaim their power and finally be heard. We can no longer allow our systems to keep us dormant and ignored in the ongoing fight for liberation, equity, and racial justice. Our collective voice is more powerful than ever.

We support our vanguard—the people on the frontlines mobilized for truth, social change, and the dismantling of systems of oppression that systemically disempower and criminalize Black people. Mass incarceration, militant policing, and racially-motivated prosecution continue to kill and traumatize our communities. Our revolving freedom fund is sustained by the support of the community and will solely be used to liberate and advocate for Black people facing unjust arrests in resistance to police brutality and racism. We believe in the power of community support to help us protect our own.

Securing bail can propose a series of challenges for those of us on frontlines who are Black, from under-privileged communities, and/or face challenges navigating the criminal legal space due to discrimination and bias.  In the state of South Carolina, bail companies are required to charge no less than 25 dollars to facilitate the release of a person who has been arrested and placed in police custody. Our goal is to use that mandate as a benchmark for raising funds for our freedom fighters. The truth is: if we do not support one another, no one else will.

Help us #ProtectOurVanguard and give what you can to secure the freedom of those in the fight for justice!
